I Choose Wealth

Life of a Hustler…

I have savoured love’s tender kiss,
I have felt the weight of gold,
The shimmering glow of love’s bliss,
A fervour that makes the blood run cold,
And innocent displays of affection bold.

Yet after tasting both, I choose wealth,
For with its power, I can summon love near.
Love’s delicate essence, fragile in health,
Can never secure the fortunes we hold dear,
But wealth ensures love is always here.

Call me selfish, if you will,
But I choose what’s tangible, what I know,
What I can measure, what fits the bill.
For love is an illusion, a fleeting show,
A memory — a diluted hypothesis, aglow.
