Nothing shapes a man like life does.
It creeps in, turning smiles into tears,
spinning you around and crushing you like a ball.

I’ve seen life —
grim and unyielding,
devoid of mercy or compassion.

When it arrives,
men turn to faith,
pain becomes routine,
and only a true friend stays close.

I’ve seen life
turn good men into predators,
and predators into stone.

I’ve seen life betray men,
and men betray life.
The weak grow weaker,
and the poor dissolve in suffering.
